What are Arginine AKG supplements?
Do the words "hemodilation" or "perpetual pump" mean anything to you? Well, they do to users of arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (arginine AKG; also known as arginine 2-oxoglute). It is claimed that this ingredient causes increased blood volume in muscle cells. Arginine AKG basically consists of the "conditionally essential" amino acid L-arginine bound to a "Krebs cycle intermediate," which may increase its absorption and target delivery to muscle cells.

What does Arginine AKG supplements do and how does it work?
Arginine AKG supplements has been researched extensively and has many beneficial effects, especially when it comes to cardiovascular health. Some research suggests it may help improve exercise performance, support protein synthesis, boost growth hormone levels at higher doses, and even help replenish glycogen (stored carbohydrate) stores post workout.

Its main mechanism of action is boosting nitric oxide (NO) production, which helps promote its many effects. Nitric oxide is basically the muscle cells "signaling molecule." Boosting nitric oxide in muscle tissue can have many anabolic effects, including increased nutrient transport and vasodilation (increased blood flow). Arginine boosts NO by stimulating nitric oxide synthase, the enzyme that makes NO.

Theoretically, Arginine AKG supplement is a glutamine precursor and may have a "glutamine sparing" effect in muscle tissue. This may be a side benefit of using this product, as glutamine (the most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue) can help athletes by boosting immune function, increasing cell volumization, supporting protein synthesis, and aiding in glycogen replenishment.

What does the science say about Arginine AKG supplements? Some people claim that arginine Arginine AKG supplement is the "the next creative," but I think that is quite far fetched consider that over 200 studies confirming the use of creative to boost exercise performance, strength, and muscle mass. Frankly, this product may have ome benefits but it does not have anywhere near the clear research in humans (specifically athletes) that creative does.
While solid and abundant testimonials from credible users should be considered, published clinical research is more important when determining if an ingredient really does work in promoting lean body mass, strength, ,and athletic performance.

There was one small study showing arginine AKG supplementation increased bench press strength. Interestingly, though, the same study showed no significant differences in body mass, fat-free mass, or percent of body fat between exercisers taking arginine AKG and those taking a placebo. In another 2004 study, researchers found that nitric oxide supplementation didn't benefit healthy individuals.

The jury is still out on whether Arginine AKG supplement is as effective as some say it is. Questions that need to be answered include whether or not this ingredient is better than pure L-arginine (or other forms of arginine like arginine pyroglutamate or arginine hydrochloride) and whether or not increased blood volume and muscle pumps lead to greater strength and lean muscle
mass over the long run.

Dosage: A good dose is generally 3-6 tabs (1 gram of arginine AKG per tab) about forty-five minutes before a workout or after meals.
